“I’m Too Busy To Work With A Business Coach!”

It’s funny. We all grew up being coached one way or another. In school, it was our teacher. After school, it was our sports coach or maths tutor. Take this into working in your health business. You didn’t start as the owner. You learned from someone else – whether during your studies, internship or throughout your career. There was always someone to learn from.

But when we entered into the ownership role in business, most of us stop learning from a coach all together.

So what changed? When did we decide that we “knew it all” and didn’t need the help and guidance of others? When did owning a business turn the switch off for “learning and development” and on for “I don’t need to learn from others”?

Is it actually because as owners we are truly that time poor to develop our own skills? Or is it because we don’t prioritise this because we no longer see it as important? The same thing goes for all aspects of our lives. You say you want to get fitter, but don’t dedicate the time to go and exercise despite there being a 24/7 gym around the corner from you. We all know exercise is important, so why don’t we prioritise the time to do this despite having the opportunity to go to the gym at any time?

Or are you saying that you’re too busy because you invest all the time in running your business that you don’t have time to work on your business? How sustainable is that methodology? Are you on the brink of burn out? If not now, it will come soon! Surely this isn’t what you pictured ownership to look like.

Time, and the excuse that there is lack of it is just that, an excuse. We’re all given the same amount of time in a day. So why can one business excel, and others fail?

It all comes down to what we prioritise in life. If we prioritise time to work on ourselves, our teams and our business so that it runs more effectively, efficiently and profitably, what would the outcome of that look like to you?

What could you spend more time on?

Is it family?
Is it friends?
Is it your team?
Is it growing and scaling your business so that you are less stressed?

But it all starts with taking action. A willingness to commit to achieving your goals. You’re not going to wake up one day and magically be able to run a 20km marathon. It takes grit, effort, training, coaching and an inner desire to accomplish that dream. The same goes for business.

So our question to you is… is today the day that you start to learn again, to switch back on that thirst for personal and business growth and to realise your business goals and aspirations? Or are you happy to do nothing and hope that one day, it won’t all come crashing down?
